Children's and Young Adult Authors' Panel
The panel was great! I got several tips about writing a children's book. We had a terrific dinner after the panel. This morning two of the panelists will join others to critique my manuscript and tonight is the book party.

Panel
Next week I will workshop my children's book manuscript about Regina Andrews. Author Jan Pinborough and author/illustrator Don Tate will fly in to participate in the workshop. I also organized a panel the night before the workshop and two local authors, Ann Bausum and Jacqueline Houtman, will join Tate and Pinborough to talk about creating children's books about real people.

A Regina Andrews' Children's Picture Book
I was recently awarded a Public Works grant from my institution, the University of Wisconsin's Center for the Humanities. The grant is funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and is designed to "support faculty who wish to rethink their research in order to reach a broader public." The workshop will bring together experts in children's books to review my manuscript and to offer feedback. The goal is to publish a children's book about Regina Andrews and to introduce her story to a whole new audience.
